The thing with Shakira is that you tend to think of her body before you think of her music. A case in point is her She Wolf music video – you know the one where she wears that flesh-coloured body suit and writhes around in a cage? You’re so transfixed with trying to see if that really is a body suit that you end up missing the song (except for the howl, of course!). Now there’s nothing wrong with using your bod to get a bit of PR, but in an age of Lady Gaga and Katy Perry, who both have mad skills to match the body, Shakira seems to be lagging behind. Her album is more of the same typical Shakira pop songs that aren’t bad, but they’re not blowing us away either. Our advice to her? Step your game up, girl! Our rating: 2 out of 5.
